RICHMOND & ZETLAND HARRIERS 12/12/18

THE BIG RACES and competitions this week were at the Hardmoors Roseberry topping race and two distances, Wheatley Hobbo 10, Barbados and the European cross country championships. Kimberley Reeve took on the Hardmoors Roseberry topping 10km race along with Nicki Buckett and both had great performances finishing with Kim the 3rd lady (1:28:51) and Nicki just thoroughly enjoying the whole race (1:50:48). There was also the slightly longer 15 mile race, which Rachel Ross Russell gave a go and produced another fine performance in 3rd (2:42:03).

Nikki Fullwood took on the Wheatley 10 Hobbo Pace and was another one on the podium finishing as the 2nd lady and 14th overall. David Hack is well known for his travelling for a race and this week was no exception, as he went to Bardbados for the running festival, finishing 20th in the mile (5:26), followed up by 16th in the 10km (40:06). He then had a go at the half marathon for luck, finishing in 17th (1:30:06) and this was all in 3 days!

Over at Tilburg in the Netherlands, Marc Scott took on the might of Europe in the senior race of the European Cross Country Championships and lead the team home in a fantastic 9th using his kick to out-sprint the fast closing Irishman in a photo finish. This great run helped the team to take the silver team medal.

At Catterick parkrun, Holly McCowie was the first lady in 12th (21:58), Garry Malton was13th (22:02) and Ian Hepworth was 57th (26:25). Over a Harrogate junior park run, Shannon Robinson was 2nd (8:23) and brother Rhys was 6th (9:06). At Northallerton, Ollie Middleton was the first finisher (8:44), Jim Wilkins was 2nd (08:59), Rebecca Wilkin was 6th and the 2nd girl (09:35), Kiki Fletcher was 16th and the 5th girl (11:06) and Abi Wilkin was 23rd (12:50).
