Richmond and Zetland Harriers
The annual Richmond and Zetland Harriers celebration of the year's highlights, was held at the Cricket Club in Richmond, with many a tale of the year's performances on trail, track, mountain, road and cross country. However, it was back to the running where these are produced.
The younger athletes took centre stage this week with Ellie Rabjohn having a great run in the English primary school year 5 race cross country, where she finished in 150th from 338 starters. Ollie Middleton took on the Dishforth dash 2k run and stormed home to take the win! In the longer 10km race it was very much a Richmond-dominated race, with Reece Dalton also taking the title in a new pb (32:57), he was followed by the senior Middleton in 4th and the 1st V40 (35:15), next with another new PB was Ian Christon, with a great run in 8th (36:14), another not far behind in 16th and also smashing their PB was Leon Reeve (38:00) and Garry Malton another one with a new PB (44:55).
Diane Adkins was on the trails at Ropner park for the Tees trail race and finished in an excellent time (29:24). Dan Upton was back on the track for his first outdoor event of the year at Blackpool and had a very pleasing set of results taking 3rd in the Hammer (35:20), placing 1st in the shot (12:38) and taking the victory in the discus (36:48). Kimberley Reeve took on the Kielder Dark skies marathon over a very undulating course and had a great run to finish as the 6th lady and 50th from 413 runners (4:03).
At Catterick parkrun, Sam Kettlewell was 4th (18:30), Ken Harker was 5th (18:45), Ronnie Corbett was 6th (19:15), Joe Reeve in 10th (19:34), George McCowie was 17th in a new pb (20:21), Holly McCowie was 19th and the 2nd lady (20:35), Garry Malton was 32nd (21:42), Pete Richardson in 45th (23:27) and Ian Hepworth in 76th (25:35). At Northallerton parkrun, Ian Christon was the 1st finisher (18:36), Josh Hammett in 5th (20:22), Anthony Jefford was 6th in a new pb (20:32), Alastair Wilkin in 10th (22:47), Olivia Jackson-Bowers was the 1st female in 19th also in a new pb (23:44), Elaine Waters in 31st, the 4th lady and a big new pb (25:59) and Kiki Fletcher in 41st and a massive new pb by over a minute (27:46).
Tom O’Mahoney was the 1st junior at Stewarts park parkrun (19:04). Pauline Whittaker was 61st at Darlington parkrun (23:37) and Nicki Buckett was 134th in a new pb (26:44). Paul Simpson was 25th at Fountains Abbey parkrun (20:11). Jim Wilkin took the top honours at Northallerton junior parkrun as the 1st finisher (08:34), Robbie Lee was 5th (09:06), Rebecca Wilkin was 7th and the 2nd girl (09:15), Kiki Fletcher in 21st (10:36 pb), Abigail Wilkin in 22nd (10:41 pb=) and Charlotte Jackson-Bowers in 28th (11:06). Shannon Robinson was the 1st girl at Darlington junior parkrun and broke the female course record (07:36).
