RICHMOND & ZETLAND HARRIERS

Richmond and Zetland Harriers
IT WAS ANOTHER great week of performances from Richmond's athletes competing in the Yorkshire Track and Field Championships, the Lancashire Track and field Championships on the same day, the Ripon 10, Leeds Half marathon, Sunderland 5km, Pie and Peas race and the Hardmoors, Wainstones marathon with athletes from the club at the very top in each.

The Yorkshire track and field championships had Kyle Rabjohn making the step up to the U17 age group for the 1st time in the 800m and he showed his burgeoning talent by not just making the final by winning his heat (02:02, pb) but finishing in a superb 3rd (2:03:50). Another making the final of the 1500m was Leon Reeve who finished a great 12th in a new pb (04:40, pb). Also in action was our adopted Lancashireman Ryan Inglis, who was just of the medals in 5th in the discus (30:51), but followed it up with 4th in the hammer (32m) and then had an outstanding throw in the shot to take 2nd (11:03).

In the West our Yorkshireman living in Lancashire showed what Yorkshiremen are made off by taking 2nd in the shot (12:26), also 2nd in the hammer (33:04) and then carrying off the discus title and champion of Lancashire (37:18). Reece Dalton was also winning this time closer to home in the Ripon 10 with a superb run (1:00:18), Paul Simpson in 30th (1:14:09), Robert Dashwood in 51st (1:17:16), Nicola Simpson was in 66th and the 11th lady (1:20:17), Ian Hepworth in 164th and the 1st V70 (1:33:37) and Nicki Buckett was 241st (1:45:31).

Over in Leeds it was another good run from Ian Christon in the half marathon in 63rd (83:00) and a great run from Donna Riddler as the 8th lady and the 2nd V40 (1:27:58). Ken Harker took on the Sunderland 5km and finished a great 18th (18:21). Diane Adkins took on the Locke Park 5 mile Pie and Peas race and was a very respectful 96th (45:37). Rachel Ross Russell took on the highly intense Hardmoors Wainstones Marathon which is closer to 28.5 miles than the usual 26.2 and had another fantastic run to take the win in the ladies section (05:02:00).
Catterick parkrun had Carl Jones as the 1st finisher (16:11), Anthony Jefford in 2nd (18:33, pb), John Gray in 3rd (18:53, pb), Carl Loughney in 4th (19:00), Rob Lickley in 15th (21:29) and Elly Robertson (25:59). Josh Hammett was 3rd at Fountains Abbey parkrun (19:10). At Northallerton parkrun, Shona Fletcher was the 1st finisher (19:10) and Garry Malton was 9th (22:53).
