Richmond and Zetland Harriers
IT HAS BEEN a week of immense pride within Richmond and Zetland Harriers, in the all-round performances from all athletes and the coaches, who have helped the athletes attain these. There was a local feel to racing with both the Northallerton 10km and the Melmerby 10km held on the same day with Richmond's runners at the top in each. Carl Jones was the first from the club over the line at Melmerby in 2nd (34:33) in another good performance, closely followed by Reece Dalton in 3rd (34:51), Leon Reeve took 13th (37:15), Donna Riddler was the 2nd lady in 41st (40:17), Paul Simpson in 65th and a new pb (42:46, pb), Nicola Simpson in 91st, the 10th lady and the 2nd V45 with a new pb thrown in (44:32, pb) and Rob Lickley in 109th (45:47). These great set of results gave the men's team the overall win! Also taking on the 3.5km fun run where Joe Reeve who finished 2nd overall (13:47) and Shannon Robinson who was the 1st girl in 4th (14:41).
Northallerton 10km is always well supported by our athletes and this year was no exception, with Rob Scott taking 2nd (33:51), Steve Middleton in 7th and the 2nd V40 (36:23), Ian Christon in 13th (38:12), Carl Loughney in 15th and the 5th V40 (40:06) Lewis Moore in 82nd (46:03), Alastair Wilkin in 115th (47:45), Elly Robertson in 188th (50:13), Pauline Whittaker in 260th (53:05), Elaine Watters in a big new pb in 308th (54:23, pb) and Nicki Buckett in 398th (58:07).
Dan Upton was once again smashing up the club record books, with another set of fine performances in the SCVAC Championships. Dan won the senior discus (38:88, pb), another huge throw in the shot (12:44) and a massive throw in the hammer (33:77).
The return of the Harrogate evening league was another event, in which there were some great performances with Rob Scott in 4th (33:06), Donna Riddler was the 5th lady (40:51), Lewis Moore in 72nd (40:46), Paul Simpson in 110th (42:37), Nicola Simpson in 177th (45:58, 3rd V45), Garry Malton in 189th (46:18), Elly Robertson in 300th (51:02), Pauline Whittaker in 309th (51:32) and Nicki Buckett in 416th (56:34).
At the North East Masters event Nicki Buckett was 2nd in the 100m (18:2), 12th in the 3000m (15:26:9) and 8th in the 400m (1:31:8). Pauline Whittaker was also in action in the 100m 1st V50 (16:4), 1st V50 in the 3000m (13:33:0) and 3rd V50 in the javelin (13:69).
Hull was the venue for the 10km in which Ken Harker on his return to the roads was 19th and the 1st V45 (39:19) and Garry Malton took on the longer half marathon producing a great run and big pb in the process (01:47:03, pb). Catterick parkrun had Mark Forrest in 3rd (17:59), Shannon Robinson in 97th and the 3rd lady (21:06), Garry Malton in 152nd (22:59) and Ryan Inglis plus 6 year old on shoulders in around 40 minutes.
At Northallerton parkrun, Steve Middleton was the 1st finisher (18:03), Josh Hammett in 5th (19:22), John Gray in 8th (20:04), Kevin Bond in 32nd (24:14) and Jane Bond (41:43). Jeremy Pattison was 7th (18:55) at Darlington parkrun, Ronnie Corbett was 9th (19:07) Rebecca Quinn produced a big new pb (21:57) and Lee Davies just behind (21:58). Joe Reeve was 4th at Gedding parkrun (20:18) and Pete Richardson was 74th at Gateshead parkrun (24:11). Ollie Middleton was 6th at Northallerton junior parkrun (08:45).
Everyone at the club would like to pass on their sincere condolences to Shaun, Katey, Rosey, Ben and family on hearing of the untimely passing of Charley, taken too young. Love life, keep going forward, not waiting and cherish those closest – always.
