Richmond and Zetland Harriers

THE ATHLETES OF Richmond and Zetland Harriers were out in force again this week with some local trail races, a cross country 10km, a couple of 5kms, a throws meet and even the Yorkshire vets road relay championships.

Richmond took 2 strong teams to the Yorkshire vets relay championships held at the lakeside in York in the V40-49 category and came home with not just both teams in the top 5 but also carrying off the title of Yorkshire Champions. The A team was Carl Jones, Leon Reeve and Mark Forrest with the B team consisting of Ken Harker, Tony Lambert and Lee Davies.

During the week there was a strong turnout of our runners at the local Darlington trail series for the Rocket 5km. Ian Christon was again in the mix for the top placings in 2nd (18:44), Lewis Moore was also in the top 10 in 10th (21:18), Kevin Bond had another good run in 15th (22:38), Nicki Buckett in 65th (30:32), Michelle Sprent-Broadwith in 66th (30:43) and Jane Bond in 86th (37:07).

It was also the next round of the York Millenium Bridge 5km, with Rob Scott smashing his pb in 6th (15:14, pb), Shannon Robinson was also flying as the 1st U13 girl (21:09) and Elly Robertson also smashing up her pb (23:17, pb). Rhys Robinson also did the 1 mile fun run in fantastic time in which he was 6th overall and 3rd in his age group (6:25).

Ken Harker ran the Quayside 5km at Gateshead showing a return to form with another great run in 83rd and the 8th V45 (18:01). Dan Upton was in Wrexham for the Lee Baldwin Memorial Games with another great set of results from the throws taking the win in the shot put (12:24), also the gold medal in the discus (38:45) and the win in the hammer (33:83).

It was also the local Scorton Feast 10km trail run which is always well supported by the club, Anthony Jefford was our first runner home in an excellent 7th in a new pb (39:24, pb), he was followed by Garry Malton another with a great run in 22nd (45:40), Pete Richardson was 36th (49:45) and Elaine Watters also smashing her pb in 54th (54:20).

Ian Christon was the 1st finisher at Northallerton parkrun (19:09), Isaac Tate was 17th (24:11), Shona Fletcher in 57th (33:05), Mark Fletcher in 63rd (37:01) and Jane Bond in 68th (39:41). At Darlington parkrun Paul Bowman was 33rd (21:53) and Claire Bowman in a good run in 276th with a new pb (32:40, pb).

Carl Loughney was 5th at Catterick parkrun (19:31), Leon Reeve was 22nd (20:59), Ken Harker was 26th (21:09), Rob Lickley in 35th (22:04), Garry Malton in 40th (22:25), Ian Hepworth in 101st (27:42) and Nicki Buckett in 125th (29:52).

Pete Richardson was 75th at the Rising Sun parkrun (24:33). Shannon (7:49) and Rhys Robinson (8:21, pb) ran Torquay junior parkrun. At Northallerton junior parkrun Matilda Ellis was the 1st girl in 2nd (08:46) and Kiki Fletcher in 10th and the 3rd girl (10:55).
