Richmond and Zetland Harriers

ANOTHER WEEK BROUGHT another set of fantastic results for the athletes of Richmond and Zetland.

John Gray and canine runner Pippa were out at the Dalby Forest 5k for the canicross race and carried home the victory between them (18:50).

Tom O’Mahoney was also out on the 5km trails and also in the top medals taking 2nd at the Christine Bass Memorial trail race at Stainton (19:55). The very hilly Matfen 10k was Rob Dashwood'target this week and finished in an excellent 21st and a great time (44:22). Stefanos Stephanou ran the Cumberland Ale 10 miler starting and finishing in the Jennings Brewery in Cockermouth and produced another superb run showing he’s in great nick placing 2nd (58:44). Another who finished 2nd this week was Donna Riddler who ran the 10km Beck Busters in Ripon (44:05, 2nd Lady).

Dan Upton continues to dominate the throws circuit with another outstanding set of results this week at the Blackpool Open Meeting. He took the win in the shot (12:49), another huge throw in the discus also taking the victory (38:77) and 3rd in the hammer (33:82).

If that all wasn’t enough, then the Vale of York half marathon had a number of our athletes using it as gauge and training before the local Yorkshire marathon later in the year. Carl Jones brought the club colours back as our first runner in a very impressive 7th overall and the 1st V45 (73:51), Ken Harker was next in a very decent run in his return to the longer distances in 74th (1:23:11), Paul Bowman was next in 391st (1:42:26), then it was Kirstin Galloway just outside her pb in another great run (2:04:14) and the flying Heather Jones who took a large chunk off her personal best (2:09:45).

Ian Christon was the 1st finisher (18:37), Anthony Jefford was the 2rd finisher at Northallerton parkrun in a new pb (19:08, pb), Olivia Jackson-Bowers was 26th and the 2nd lady (23:33), Alastair Wilkin in 9th (21:53, sb), Elaine Watters in pb shape in 34th and the 4th lady (24:22, pb), Kiki Fletcher in 56th (27:33, pb) and Shona Fletcher in 57th (27:33).

Rob Lickley was 40th (21:50) at Fountains Abbey parkrun. Mark Forrest took was the first finisher (17:49), Joshua Hammett was 3rd in a new pb (18:10, pb), Garry Malton was 20th (21:13), Pete Richardson was 39th (23:06), Elly Robertson was the 3rd lady in a new pb (23:29, pb) and Nicki Buckett was 104th (28:15) at Catterick parkrun (26:49).

Joe Reeve was 9th at Darlington south park parkrun (19:26). Rebecca Wilkin was 3rd overall and the 1st girl at Northallerton junior parkrun (09:08), she was followed by the flying Charlotte Jackson-Bowers in a huge new pb in 7th (09:36, pb) and the 2nd girl and Kiki Fletcher (10:09) just behind in 10th and the 5th girl.
