ANOTHER BIG WEEK of results from Richmond's athletes with a whole raft of runners producing fine performances and some making it onto the podium for the first ever time, showing what training and dedication can do.

During the week, it was the local Darlington trail series run over 5km with Ian Christon taking 2nd overall, but confirming the series title in the process (18:54). He was followed by Lewis Moore in 13th (22:09), Kevin Bond in 14th (22:22), Pauline Whitaker in 43rd (25:58), Michelle Sprent-Broadwith (29:21) and Jane Bond in 95th (36:33).

At the North Easter Masters Pentathlon there were big wins for our athletes with Dan Upton taking the V40 win and Pauline Whittaker winning the ladies V50 title. Ian Hepworth had a good run at the Sutton on the Forest 10km trail race (55:43).

It was the local Snape 10km and shorter 5km with Richmond's athletes excelling. In the big one over 10km, the old master Steve Middleton (36:55) held off the ever closer Ian Christon (37:10) for an exciting race and a Richmond 1 and 2, with Nicola Simpson in 35th (47.47), Tony Ditchburn in 37th (48.07), Elaine Watters in 65th (53.34) and Michelle Sprent-Broadwith in 118th (61:03). Over the 5km route, Josh Hammett stole the show and raced away for the overall win and 1st in his age group (20:16), he was followed by the younger Ollie Middleton also on the podium in 3rd (23:18), Matilda Ellis was just outside the main podium in 5th but was the 1st female and the 1st U11 (24:40) and Sarah Gregory took the senior ladies win and the 2nd female (26:34).

Carl Loughney took on the Dalby Forest trail marathon and finished an excellent 13th (05:15:22). Kev Bond was also on the podium this week with a great run in the Wiggonby 10km taking 3rd overall (45:22).

It was also the Falls and Castle trail race with a raft of top prizes for our athletes, Steve Sadler led the line taking 3rd overall and the 1st vet (53:51), he was followed by Louise Black as the 1st senior lady and then Elly Robertson with another great run and the 5th lady but the 2nd senior (64:04).

Tom O’Mahoney was the 1st junior and the 5th finisher at the Redcar festival of running in the 5km race (18:07). Joe Reeve was also in the prizes in the 2.5km taking 2nd overall (09:02). Over the longer 10km at the same event, Steve Middleton shows that he’s still not slowing down with age taking 9th overall and the 2nd V40 (37:15), he was followed in quick succession by Leon Reeve in 35th and the 5th V40 (37:53), hot on his heels was Ken Harker (38:36), then it was Pete Richardson in 82nd (48:11) and Pauline Whittaker dropping under the 50 minutes also in 109th (49:53).
Over the longer half marathon route, Steve Sadler again was at the sharp end of the race in 59th and the 4th V55 (1:29:20), next back was Paul Simpson in 115th (1:34:00) and then it was the flying Kimberley Reeve finishing as the 11th lady and the 1st V45 (1:36:51). Stefanos Stephanou had another great run this time at the Windsor Half Marathon finishing in 12th overall (1:18:28).

At the Grimbsy Harriers September open, Dan Upton continues his excellent form taking the win in the shot (12:82) and the discus (38:65). Rob Scott was the 1st finisher (18:22), Anthony Jefford was the 3rd finisher at Northallerton parkrun (19:08, =pb), John Gray was the 4th finisher (19:10), Elly Robertson was the 30 minute pacer (30:03). Jane Bond was 116th at Keswick parkrun in a seasons best (34:57, sb). Pete Richardson revisited the parkrun at HMP Kirklevington Grange and finished a fantastic 5th (23:55). Jeremy Pattison was 7th (18:21, sb), Garry Malton was 42nd in a new pb (21:26, pb) and Ian Hepworth ran Darlington parkrun finishing in 123rd (26:11).

Mark Forrest took was the first finisher (17:49), Joshua Hammett was 3rd in a new pb (18:10, pb), Garry Malton was 20th (21:13), at Catterick parkrun. Ronnie Corbett was 5th at Darlington parkrun (19:31) and Shaun Purkiss-McEndo returning to form in 18th (20:51) this week. Rob Scott was 2nd at York Knavesmire parkrun (16:17). At Northallerton this week John Gray and Pipa were 2nd (19:29) and Leon Reeve was 16th (20:50) and Garry Malton 22nd (21:50) at Catterick parkrun.

Last week at Northallerton junior parkrun James Holdsworth took the top honours in a huge new pb (08:40, pb) and Kiki Fletcher in 7th and the 1st girl also in a big new pb (10:03, pb). At this week's Northallerton junior parkrun, James Holdsworth was 2nd (09:09) and Kiki Fletcher in 7th and the 2nd girl (10:18).
