RICHMOND & ZETLAND HARRIERS 6/11
Richmond and Zetland Harriers
IT WAS ANOTHER SET OF outstanding results this week from Richmond's hardened runners, even the mud baths, lakes, rivers and the very odd bit of dry concrete didn’t put our runners off their sport. John Gray had a go at the Ullswater 14k trail race, which isn’t the flattest course ever, but John finished in an excellent 28th out of 492 runners (1:11:24). Steve Sadler seems to like this weather, taking 5th overall and the 1st V45 at the Bradford City Runs 10km (40:25) and all that hard work seems to be paying off, as he was 2 mins quicker than last year! It was also the 2nd race of the UK Army North Cross Country League with Leon Reeve finishing in a commanding 13th place.
As it is November, then it's the correct timing for the Guy Fawkes 10 mile race, held around the hillier parts of Ripley and Nidderdale with three of our athletes taking to the start line for the testing course. Rob Lickley was the first one back in 122nd (01:17:22), then it was Kimberley Reeve in 173rd (01:19:43) and then Pauline Whittaker in 339th (01:28:32).
Garry Malton was 12th (21:02), Alastair Wilkin in 16th (21:43) and Ian Hepworth in 37th (25:54) at Catterick parkrun. John Gray took the top honours (19:53) and Ellie Robertson in 9th and the 2nd lady (26:26) took on the mud bath, that was Northallerton parkrun. Nicola Simpson took on York parkrun and finished in 53rd(21:33). At Darlington south park run Becca Smith was 18th and the 2nd lady (21:19) and Pete Richardson in 53rd (23:48).
