RICHMOND & ZETLAND HARRIERS 27/11

Richmond and Zetland Harriers
THIS WEEK IT WAS mostly muddy, wet and downright perfect for running – if you like those conditions, but the hardy athletes of Richmond and Zetland were all over it, plus the odd drier run but that was few and far between.

It was another week of the local North Yorkshire and South Durham cross country league held at the Fox Rush course at Redcar and the results just seem to get better and better as the winter goes on. First up was Archie Lawson in the U11 boys and another good run in 14th place. Ellie Rabjohn continues to perform well and was 5th this time out and Isla Simpson also running well in 12th in the U11 girls race. In the U13 boys Ollie Middleton led the squad home in 11th, followed by Ollie Rogerson in 15th and Jack Vasey in 18th. These results gave the squad 4th overall. In the U13 girls Olivia Jackson-Bowers and Phoebe Hall grouped well in 10th and 11th. Joshua Hammett had a comfortable win in the U15 boys which also had Dominic Wilford in 13th. Alana Teasdale was 6th in the U15 girls.

The senior ladies had some great runs with Jo Adams taking a comfortable win, followed by the returning Donna Riddler in 6th overall and the 2nd V40, then it was the charging Nicola Simpson in 9th and the 1st V45, Rebecca Smith was 18th, Rachel Smith in 23rd and the 2nd U20, Kimberley Reeve was 26th, Fiona Wilson in 33rd, Pauline Whittaker in 46th, Elaine Watters in 55th and Nicki Buckett in 82nd. These fantastic results gave the ladies a comfortable squad win.

Next up was the senior men, with Reece Dalton in 6th and Scott Wardman in 7th, Matthew Lambert in 10th and the top U20, then Mark Forrest in 23rd and the 2nd V50, he was followed by Tony Lambert in 25th and the 3rd V45, Ken Harker in 34th, Julian Simpson in 53rd, Anthony Jefford in 78th, Paul Simpson in 79th and Chris Soley in 84th. These results gave the men's squad 2nd overall.

Charlie Stephenson travelled further afield to test himself against the best U17’s at the Liverpool cross challenge and he finished in an excellent 27th. Ian Hepworth was over in Preston for the Preston Best 5km and finished in a fantastic 60th (26:27). A slightly muddy Daisy Chain 5km had Leon Reeve finish in 4th (23:25).

Ken Harker was 2nd (19:32), Nicola Simpson in 8th overall and the 1st lady in a brand new pb (20:30, pb) and Garry Malton was 14th (21:14) at Catterick parkrun. John Gray was 1st (19:18) at Northallerton parkrun. The Grange parkrun had Leon Reeve in 2nd (19:44) and Pete Richardson in 10th (25:30).
