Richmond and Zetland Harriers
THIS WEEK THERE WERE marathons, 5kms, 10kms, 5 milers and even a few Santa Runs to make it very festive for Richmond's runners.
It was the last local cross country league race for Richmond's squad and it was a dominant display from Richmond's athletes. Rhys Robinson was first out on the course and had an excellent run in 5th in the U11 boy's race. Next was Ellie Rabjohn also in 5th and Isla Simpson in 13th in the U11 girl's race. In the U13 boy's race Ollie Middleton led them home in 10th, then Thomas Carter in 11th, Ollie Rogerson in 14th and Jack Vasey in 15th which gave the squad 3rd overall. In the U13 girl's race Olivia Jackson-Bowers was 6th and Phoebe Hall in 7th. The U15 boys stormed to a great team win, with Tom O’Mahoney taking the win followed by Josh Hammett in 3rd and Joe Reeve in 4th. In the U15 girls Shannon Robinson was 4th and Alana Teasdale in 6th. Charlie Stephenson also won the U17 men's race with Alex Reeve just behind in 3rd.
The senior ladies had Nicola Simpson in 6th (& 2nd V45), Rebecca Smith in 10th (& 4th senior), Stephanie Stephenson in 15th (& 3rd V45), Rebecca Simpson in 22nd (& 3rd V40), Rachel Smith in 27th (& 1st U20), Fiona Wilson in 37th, Pauline Whittaker in 43rd, Elaine Watters in 45th, Nicki Buckett in 69th and Michelle Sprent in 73rd. These excellent results gave the ladies the team win.
It was another dominant display from the men's squad. Rob Scott was 2nd, Carl Jones in 3rd (& 1st V45), Jake Stephenson in 7th (& 1st U20), Matthew Lambert in 9th (& 2nd U20), Ken Harker in 17th (& 2nd V45), Mark Forrest in 19th (& 1st V50), Reece Dalton in 21st, Tony Lambert in 28th, Julian Simpson in 40th, Paul Simpson in 64th and Anthony Jefford in 65th. The men also took the team win.
The undulating but very tough Hardmoors Roseberry Topping Marathon held over 31 miles, had Rachel Ross Russell finish in a superb 10th overall, the 2nd lady and the 1st V50 (05:27). Steve Sadler was also out and about at the Great Langdale Christmas Pudding 10km and had a great run on the hilly undulating and wet course in 41st and was the 2nd V55 (41:54).
Leon Reeve was 307th at Telford 10km (37:08). Kevin and Jane Bond took on the very scenic 5km at Whinlatter Forest in Keswick for the Santa Dash with two excellent runs. Steve Sadler also ran the Bah Humbug 10km in Leeds on a mixed terrain, hilly course and finished in 27th and the 1st V55. Elly Robertson ran the York Yuletide 5 miler trail race finishing in a great time (36:31).
Ronnie Corbett was 6th (19:13), Carl Loughney was 10th (20:12), Ken Harker was 19th (21:46), Garry Malton was 23rd (22:07), Paul Wright in 24th and a new pb (22:08, pb), Pauline Whittaker in 41st (23:33, sb) and Ian Hepworth in 62nd (26:24) at Catterick parkrun. Rob Scott was the first finisher (20:03) and Kiki Fletcher was 25th and the 3rd lady (28:18) at Northallerton parkrun. Pete Richardson was 16th at the Jubilee parkrun (24:34). Claire Bowman was 261st (33:22 and Paul Bowman in 27th (21:27) at Fountains Abbey parkrun. Carl Jones as the 1st finisher in a massively rapid time (16:00) and breaking the V45 record at Darlington parkrun.
