R&Z Juniors in top performance at Park Run
At the weekly parkrun at Darlington it was the battle of the younger runners with Richmond and Zetland Harriers taking the top 5 positions and 8 out of the top 10. Added to this a 1-2-3 in the ladies positions! Liam Rabjohn was 1st (17:03), Harry Robson 2nd (17:56), the not so young Ken Harker 3rd (18:09), just ahead of Rob Scott in 4th (18:11) and Jake Stephenson 5th (18:19). Jo Adams led the ladies in 7th overall in 18:42, James Greer was hot on her heels in 8th (18:51) and a new pb, followed by Lee Davies in 10th and another new pb (19:06). Holly Flannery another to break her pb was 2nd lady in 16th (19:58) and was chased home by the 3rd lady, Rosie Adams also in a new pb in 17th (20:05). George Veitch was also in pb form in 26th (20:34) followed by Shaun Purkiss 29th (20:50) and Anna Harrison in 56th (22:43). Ian Hepworth was another setting a new pb at Darlington in 93rd (24:42). Ewan Baxter was 116th (25:43, new pb) just ahead of Charlie Stephenson (118th, 25:47). Also running well was first timer Alex Greer in 156th (27:34), followed by the ever improving Nikki Billows in pb form (169th, 28:00) and another first timer Abbie Robson (172nd, 28:02).
In the NYSD athletics at Middlesborough there were some great performances recorded by our athletes both young and not so young The U13G 200M were very competitive with Abbie Robson in fine form to win heat 2 (30:80). The U13B races were equally competitive with James West (7th, 33:80) in heat 1. In heat 2 Joe Withers finished in 5th in 32:80 and Tom Heaton-Jones 6th (34:80) in the final heat. The 200M U15 boys in heat 1, James Davison was 5th (27:2) and James Heaton-Jones (6th, 32:20). In heat 2 Alex Greer was 2nd (28:3). In the 200M U15 girls, Eliza Withers was 5th (29:6) and Vanessa Roper 7th (32:10) in heat 2. Eliza Withers was running in the U15 girls 300M and was 4th(45:90). The U15 boys 300m first heat Lewis Moore was 4th (50:10) with Alex Greer 4th (45:20) in.heat 2. The U17 womens 300M saw Laura Kirkham come home in 3rd just ahead of Emily Kirby in 4th with both having the same time (47:30). The graded senior 200M saw Adam Walker run 24:4 for 5th in heat 1 and Richard Kirkham finish 1st (25:80) in heat 2. Heat 3 saw Mark Fletcher finish in 5th(29:5) and Pauline Whittaker just behind in 6th (32:6). In the U15 boys high jump Alex Greer was 2nd (1:45).In the U13B high jump James West recorded a height of 1:05 for 4th place. The U17M high jump was a compelling affair between the three muskateers of Robson (1:45), Canizo (1:45) and Greer (1:40).In the U15B triple jump Matthew Lambert was 2nd (7:90. Abbie Robson was the clear winner of the U13G javelin (17:38). The U13 boys javelin had Joe Withers in 9th (12:33), just ahead of Charlie Stephenson in 10th (11:26).In the U15G javelin were again represented by Eliza Withers (9th, 11:36) and Vanessa Roper (9th, 10:32). The U15 javelin was a very closely contested competition by our athletes with James Heaton-Jones (2nd, 14:22), Matthew Lambert (3rd, 14:06) and James Davidson (4th, 11:69) taking part. Unfortunately, our invited athletes for the 8m long jump challenge had other events to concentrate on and had to turn Chris Tomlinson down on this occasion. Harry Robson and James Greer professional to the last for their main events. Richard Kirkham was a clear winner in the U17 javelin (11:74). In the senior mens javelin, Mark Fletcher was (2nd V40, 16:06). The javelin rematch was a nervy affair with Pauline Whittaker again showing just edging the ladies V45 (3rd, 15:42m), just ahead of Fiona Wilson (4th, 14:27m) followed by our top V35, Laura Dunphy (3rd, 14:22m). There were good runs in the U13B, 1500m by Ben Lambert who had an excellent run (5th, 5:44:1) and Charlie Stephenson (10th, 6:21:3). The 3000M was a hotly contested affair with Jake Stephenson having a great run for 3rd (10:20:1), Jo Adams was the next and the 1st lady (5th, 10:32:3), followed by sister Rosie (3rd lady, 9th, 11:18:3) and a good run from the returning Issy Starkey was the top U17W (17th, 11:24:0) Chloe Dalton was the 2nd U15 girl in the same race (12th, 12:06:6), Matthew Lambert (U15B,12th, 12:40:1) and Anna Harrison (3rd U15G, 18th, 12:54:5). In the second 3000m heat it was was won by a certain Marc Scott (08:29:3) as a loosener for his trip to Talin. Reece Dalton was the top U17 man in 4th (09:31:9), then it was Tony Lambert (7th, 10:18:7 and 1st V40). The 5000M was just run before it got dark in extremely humid energy sapping conditions and out of the murk came Ken Harker was the first harrier (10th, 18:32:2), followed by Jeremy Pattison (11th, 18:38:5), James Greer (12th, 19:35:5), Ryan Canizo (15th, 22:49:3), Laura Kirkham (16th, 22:57:6) with the battle between Fiona Wilson and Emily Kirby went down to the wire with Fiona taking the honours after a photo review (17th and 18th).
At the Harrogate 10k Reece Dalton was 8th in 35:31, followed by Josh Licoln in 43rd (39:33), Lee Davies (41:16, 77th), Donna Riddler (78th, 41:20), Andy Everard (136th, 44:28). Appleby 10k had also a few harriers taking to the roads with Andy Everard in 45th (47:01) and Ian Hepworth having a great run in 61st (52:01) and the 2nd Vet 60!
Congratulations to Marc Scott who was selected for the GB and N.I U23 team to run in the 10,000 metres in Talin, Estonia. Just shows what dedication and a modicum of talent can do! What depth in talent we have in our club in all age groups and across all events!
