Jacqui Produces a storming run at Redcar
Liam Rabjohn continues his impressive season with another big race at the Morrisons Great Yorkshire Run 10k. He was 8th overall, 2nd U20 and finished in 33:46 just outside his pb. What makes this even more impressive is that he did so running without the aid of an elite number! Jacqui Keavney had a storming run finishing in 52ndand the 4th lady at the Redcar half marathon in a new pb (1:25:52) and top V50 lady athlete. Andy Grasby was just behind in 54th in exactly the same time (1:25:52). Over in Berlin, another Harrier was taking to the long marathon route and Andy Buckley didn’t disappoint to finish in 2:46:57 and 563rd position and a new pb. Meanwhile on the hills and trails of the Dales Trail Series, Tony Lambert was in his element and had a great result with 2nd over the 40km race at Semer Water, with 3000ft of ascent it is no walk in the park. Lee Davies was also mad enough to complete the course in 12th, along with Steve Middleton, who cramped up in the last mile, but still made it to the line in 17th position.
This week at Darlington parkrun Mike Jeffries warming up for his trip to the lakes for the Kielder marathon was 1st across the line in 17:07, Dave Hack continuing his good form was 2nd in a new pb (17:41) and Harry Robson (18:03) in 3rd, completed the 1,2,3. Peter Armstrong chasing a sub 19 minute time was 10th (19:12), pace maker Ken Harker was 11th (19:16), Shaun Purkiss produced a seasons best in 14th (19:55), Laura Kirkham had a great run in 22:03 in 43rd and 4th lady and the unknown Ryan Canizo in 55th (22:38). Mark Fletcher continues his return to running in 57th (22:41), the flying Jane Hack in an another new pb (26:40, 131st) and Alex Canizo just outside his pb in 170th (28:29). Natalie Wood was also in pb shape smashing her pb by 43s in 212th (33:01). Rob Scott continues to push towards Steve Middleton's course record at Northallerton with another 1st finish and new pb (17:27). At Fountains Abbey, Reece Dalton was also the 1st to cross the line in 16:49 just outside his pb, Donna Riddler pushing for that new pb was 1s outside it in 18thposition (19:40), however Chloe Dalton didn’t let the side down in 27th and a new pb (20:29).
Ian Hepworth was in Wales on Saturday to help celebrate their win on Saturday night and also indulged in a bit of parkrun tourism at the Penrhyn parkrun to finish in an excellent 18th in 24:35.
After Sunday's mammoth fun day it has been suggested that this was a cunningly disguised training session by coach Purkiss as he was not to be seen. However, this has back fired as he now has a back log of injuries and walking wounded after all the fun and games. A speedy recovery is wished to Alex Canizo who still can’t attempt a set of stairs without wincing, Rob Scott also is on the injury list, as is Pauline Whittaker and it was noticed that messers Hack, Robson and Greer were also in absentia from Tuesdays session!
However, a Richmond and Zetland Harrier has been spotted using all techniques in a bid to return from injury. Aqua jogging was suggested but since the local swimming pool is many days by horse and cart an intrepid adventurer took to the nearest alfresco water course. Please see attached image!
