Report 506 Harrogate 10K & Sunderland 5K

Three Richmond & Zetland athletes have been at the sharp end of racing once again, starting with the Sunderland 5K race on Wednesday 17th July. Ken Harker and Rob Scott were right on form once again, both running PBs in the process, despite the head wind blowing almost all the way around the course and a very warm evening for racing. Ken was 4th V40 across the line in a fantastic time of 17.14, showing that it is an extremely competitive age group to be racing in, while Rob wasn’t far behind at all, finishing in 17.27 and 53rd overall from over 400 runners on the night.

Marc Scott took his first victory since arriving home from sunnier climes, as he finished clear of the rest of field at the Harrogate 10K road race on Sunday 20th July. Yet again he ran close to the 30-minute barrier, finishing in an amazing time of 30.55, on a slightly more undulating course than last week’s race, giving him overall victory against some very swift athletes, there is hopefully more to come from him this season.
