Richmond athletes rule the roads. 31.5.17
Richmond athletes where spread from Manchester, Melmerby, Northallerton, Stewart's Park and all the way up to Edinburgh with some incredible results and many new personnal bests posted.
At Melmerby 10k, Jeremy Pattison had an excellent run in 8th and the top V40 (37:12), Ken Harker wasn’t far behind in 11th and the 2nd V45 (37:43, sb) and Donna Riddler in 46th and the 2nd lady (41:11 sb, 1st V35). Sarah Gregory produced a seasons best result in 123rd (47:26, sb) and Chloe Dalton was 131st (48:17). Liam Rabjohn took his running to another level at the Manchester 10k with a truly exceptional run to take 16th place in the race from a mass start. He not only clocked a new personal best but has now attained a sub 31 minute time to give him elite entry into the big races (30:44, 1st U20).
At Northallerton 10k in its 2nd year it was the same story as last year with Rob Scott leading from start to finish to take the title for the 2nd year in a row and new course record (34:18). Lee Davies was the next harrier across the line in 10th (39:04), followed by the flying Rosie Adams in 17th (40:29) and also taking the ladies title and James Greer was just behind in 18th and the 1st U20 runner (40:40). Anthony Jefford was 28th (42:10), Tony Ditchburn was 52nd (44:07, 1st V55), Kevin Bond was 59th (44:58), Lewis Moore had a fantastic run in his first 10k in 87th (45:55 pb), Mark Fletcher in 89th (46:43 pb) and Shona Fletcher in 90th on pacing duties (46:43, 3rd V35). Anna Harrison also in her first ever 10k had a great run in 111th (48:04) and was the 3rd U20. Ryan Greer was 268th (54:33), Sally Harrison was 300th (56:30), Diane Adkins was 381st (59:42), Nicki Buckett was 414th (1:01:22), Natalie Wood 570th (1:10:36) and Karen Greer in 643rd (1:19:36). A special mention to Mary Hamilton, mum of Shona Fletcher, who finished in 574th (1:10:34) and was the oldest lady in the race and was the 2nd V65 lady.
In Edinburgh Deborah Pennick was 3667th (2:00:39) and Mike Jefferies in 73rd (1:20:42). Steve Sadler took on the longer race over 26.2 miles and came in 149th (3:06:18).
The NYMAC relays were run over 1 mile legs and held at Stewart's Park in Middlesbrough. The club took 3 men's and 3 ladies teams, taking home both the men's and ladies titles. Richmond's squad for the night was Rob Scott, Reece Dalton, James Greer, Luke Hack, Ken Harker, Lewis Moore, Adam Walker, Dave Hack, Simon Withers, Kevin Bond, Mark Fletcher and Steve Middleton. The ladies were represented by Jo Adams, Donna Riddler, Rosie Adams, Shona Fletcher, Chloe Dalton, Rachel Ross-Russell, Jackie Keavney, Pauline Whittaker, Sarah Gregory, Nicki Buckett, Diane Adkins and Michelle Sprent-Boradwith. Ken Harker was 1st across the line at Northallerton parkrun in a new pb (18:37), Shona Fletcher was 3rd and the 1st lady (19:35), Steve Middleton was 5th on his return to running after his long lay-off (19:59) and Joshua Hammett was 13th (22:35).
At Darlington parkrun, Jo Adams was 6th and the 1st lady (18:48), followed by Carl Jones in 7th (18:55), Ian Hepworth was 127th (25:24), Craig Morton finished in 156th (26:14) and Andy Buckley in 383rd (41:55).
