Richmond and Zetland Harriers took a strong squad to the 2nd summer track league meet at Jarrow. First up was the hammer throwers and they proved to be very strong in both the men's and the ladies. Alex Canizo was 2nd in the A string (19:87) and Mark Fletcher was also 2nd in the B string (13:86). Jo Adams took the ladies competition (19:05, pb) and Fiona Wilson was 3rd in the B string (11:27). In the long jump Pauline Whittaker jumped into 5th place in the A competition (2:92) and Shona Fletcher was 4th in the B event (3:53). In the men's event Richard Kirkham was a very good 3rd in the A event (5:12) and Luke Hack was 2nd in the B event (4:47). Adam Walker produced a superb jump to take the A win in the triple jump (11:11), with Karl Murray taking 3rd in the B event (9:95). In the ladies event Fiona Wilson was 3rd in the A event and Shona Fletcher 2nd in the B event (6:61pb).
Alex Canizo produced a fine throw in the discus 3rd (21:41) and Mark Fletcher was 4th in the B event (14:81). In the ladies event Jo Adams was 4th (16:82) and Fiona Whittaker was 2nd in the B event (15:45). Pauline Whittaker was 3rd in the javelin (16:62) and Fiona Wilson 1st in the B event (12:51). In the men's event Simon Withers had a great debut in 5th (23:71, pb) and Alex Canizo 3rd in the B event (18:19). Adam Walker took 3rd in the men's high jump (1:55) and Eliza Withers was 2nd in the ladies high jump (1:40). Joey Hewson equalled her life time best in the 100m (13:2, 2nd) and Pauline Whittaker was 5th in the 2nd heat (16:2). In the men's race Adam Walker was 4th (11:7) and Richard Kirkham pulled up with an injury but still was 5th (15:9). Karl Murray was 5th in the 200m (27:6) and Simon Withers also 5th in the B string (29:9). In the ladies race Joey Hewson produced a storming run in 2nd in a massive new pb (26:9, pb) and Pauline Whittaker was 6th in the B event (33:5).
Jo Adams was an excellent 2nd in the 400m (63:9, sb) and Michelle Sprent 4th in the B event (82:3, sb). In the men's race Adam Walker was 3rd (53:5) and Simon Withers was 4th in the B string (66:0). Rob Scott was an excellent 2nd in the 800m (2:06:0) and just finished ahead of the fast finishing Luke Hack who was 2nd in the B race in a new pb (2:06:2). In the ladies race Jo Adams took 1st (2:19:2), with Anna Harrison finishing superbly to take 1st in the B race (2:37:2). Rosie Adams took 2nd in the A 1500m (05:08:0) and Laura Kirkham was 2nd in the B race (5:26:9). In the men's race Luke Hack was 4th (4:31:4) and Karl Murray was 3rd in the B string (4:55:0). Both Rob Scott (10:21:7) and John Buchan (12:19:4) ran big pb’s in the steeple chase both finishing 2nd in the their respective races. The ladies followed suit in the 3000m with Shona Fletcher taking 2nd in a big new pb (10:49:0) and Chloe Dalton was 2nd in the B string (12:37:4). Eliza Withers stormed to victory in the 400m hurdles (77:1) and Fiona Wilson also winning the B string (91:0). The men's race had Karl Murray take victory (65:1) and John Buchan 3rd in the B race in a new pb (72:7, pb).
Simon Withers ran to a new pb in the 5000m (6th, 19:51:8). In the men's 110 hurdles Karl Murray was 2nd (20:0), with John Buchan also taking 2nd in the B string in another new pb (24:3). The men's team of Adam Walker, John Buchan, Luke Hack and Karl Murray took 4th in the 4 x 100m (49:7) and the ladies team of Rosie Adams, Jo Adams, Laura Kirkham and Joey Hewson took a fantastic 2nd in their race (59:7). The ladies 4 x 400m team of Jo Adams, Rosie Adams, Laura Kirkham and Eliza Withers had a great run to take 2nd (04:44:6). The final race of the day had the men's team take a great but very narrow win in the 4 x 400m and where represented by Adam Walker, Reece Dalton, Luke Hack and Rob Scott (3:45:7).
The mid week summer league kicked back into action with the race this week at Yeadon, Rob Scott continues his good form with 2nd in this weeks race just beaten by Reece Dalton running for his 1st claim club. Donna riddler also ran and was 97th and the 9th lady, with Chloe Dalton in 194th place and the 2nd U18.
Ken Harker was 5th at Tees Barrage parkrun in a new pb (19:11). Issie Starkey also smashed her pb at Fountains Abbey parkrun in 47th place (21:15). At Darlington parkrun, Craig Morton finished in 223rd (30:19). It was the practice run for Cattericks new parkrun and was extremely well supported by athletes from our club testing out the new course.
