Harriers at the Top
Marc Scott took on the best of the UK’s athletes at the British Championships and as usual the Richmond and Zetland vest was prominent at the front of the pack during the race. Marc was on the pace and was part of the pack of 4 that broke away with 4 laps to go. When the pace started to wind up, Andrew Buchart then kicked with 3 laps to go and left the rest in his wake, with Andrew Vernon, Ben Connor and Marc left behind. It then became a race for the minor places, but after Marc's exploits last week-end at the European team championships, it may have been a race too far after a long season which culminated in the NCAA title last month in the States. Marc finished in 4th place which is still extremely impressive given the company he was in and it should be noted that he was the youngest of these 4 by a number of years. Marc actually has the best times of any of these athletes at the same stage of their development.

It was the third meet of the NYSD summer track league. Adam Walker took the 400m win in heat 1 (52:3), in heat 4 Anthony Jefford took 2nd place in a big new pb (75:6 pb) and Kristy Kettlewell in 5th also posting a new pb in the same event (81:8). In the U13G 1500m, Holly McCowie took charge of the race right from the start to win (5:28:0) and Shannon Robinson in 4th also having a fantastic run (5:45:0). In the boys race, Josh Hammett continues his development in a very good 4th (5:19:8) and Thomas Greer running well in 13th (6:38:9). In the U15 boys 3000m race Kyle Rabjohn led from start to finish recording another win (10:05:9) and Callum Crisp in a very good 7th (11:16:5). In the senior men's it was a similar story with older brother Liam winning (9:01:4), with Reece Dalton in 3rd (9:09:1), Jo Adams was the 1st lady in 12th (10:46:3) and Sam Kettlewell with a great run in 14th (10:59:7, 2nd U17).

Some images have emerged of Ken Harker ripping up the dance floor in Birmingham. However, we have been safely reassured that he wasn’t auditioning for the remake of Saturday Night Fever and will stick to his day job of coaching!
