CROSSING THE COUNTRY 18/10/17

This week it was the start of the cross country season at Acklam and Cardiff, trail running and a few parkruns in the region! Kyle Rabjohn travelled the furthest this week and took on the Cardiff cross challenge over 3200mm, he had another great run to finish 15th in the U15 boys race.

The first cross country of the year was held at Acklam in good conditions for the time of year and there were some excellent performances from our athletes both young and slightly older. Olivia Briggs in her first outing for the club had a fantastic run in the U11 girls finishing 15th in a very big field (08:12). In the U13 boys
race, Josh Hammett (09:00) and Tom O’Mahoney (9:02) continue their good form with 3rd and 4th, with Matty Cole having a good run in 9th (9:43), with great support from Thomas Greer (11:01) and Ali Chisholm (11:03) in 19th and 20th. The squad also took the team win.

In the girls race of the same age group it was another win for Richmond and Zetland and the three girls ran as a very close unit to finish with Shannon Robinson in 5th (09:51), Alana Teasdale in 6th (09:52) and Holly McCowie in 7th (09:54). It was the same team result in the U15 boys race, with the excellent Kyle Rabjohn leading them all home in 1st (10:00), followed by Daniel Francis in another good run in 2nd (10:04), Charlie Stephenson also running well for 5th (10:26), with great support from Ralph Chisholm in 9th (11:25) and George McCowie in 12th (11:42). Emily Francis was our sole runner in the U15 girls race, but had a good run in 10th (12:56).
Matthew Lambert and Dylan Soley ran the U17 boys race with two very good finishes in 7th (20:56) and 9th (21:17). Jacqui Keavney was our first finisher in the senior ladies race in 19th and the 2nd V50 (24:15), Laura Kirkham was next in 20th and the 2nd U20 (24:20), Rebecca Simpson finishing well was 21st (24:33) and the 2nd V40, Lucy Goundry was 24th (24:52) and the 4th V40, Pauline Whittaker was 39th and the 5th V50 (27:03), Kisca Wilson in her first outing in a red vest was a very good 42nd (27:15), Vicki Smith in 43rd with another good run (27:17), Fiona Wilson in 50th (28:47), Nicki Buckett in 70th (30:49) and Tracey Lambert in her first cross country in a very fine 88th (36:06). These results gave the ladies squad 3rd overall in the team placings.

In the senior men's race Tony Lambert took a very good 7th (36:58) and the 3rd V45 runner, Scott Wardman was next in 11th (37:45) and the 5th senior runner, Lee Davies had a very good run in 21st and the 5th V40 runner (39:21), just behind was Carl Jones in 26th (39:37), Ken Harker in 31st (39:56), Julian Simpson in 42nd (40:35), Michael Burke in 59th (41:56), Steve Middleton in 74th (42:43), David Hack in 82nd (43:29), Harry Robson in 90th (44:10) and Ryan Greer in 181st (1:03:56).These results had the men's team in joint 4th overall.

At the recent Stockton trail series George McCowie finished in 22nd overall and the 2nd male youth (21:32) and sister Holly in 37th, the 6th lady and the 2nd female youth (22:35).

Rob Scott was 1st at Northallerton parkrun (18:43), Steve Middleton was 2nd (19:21) and Fiona Crisp was 76th in a huge new pb (27:00, pb). At Catterick parkrun Carl Jones took top honours and a new pb (18:00, pb), he was followed closely by Daniel Francis in 2nd (18:13), Ralph Chisholm in 6th and a new pb (19:55, pb), Lucas Holmes was 32nd in a new pb (23:21, pb), Ben Jones was 35th and also a new pb (23:42, pb), Ali Chisholm was 39th (24:39), Ryan Greer in 50th (26:02), Ian Hepworth in 53rd (26:08), Thomas Greer in 55th (26:27), Craig Morton in 60th (27:04), Alex Canizo in 110th (32:44) and Karen Greer in 118th (33:46).
