NORTH CROSS COUNTRY 30/1/18
North Cross Country
This week Richmond and Zetland took the short trip to Harewood House for the Northern Cross Country Championships, plus a few parkruns and trail races along the way. The course was beautifully laid out, but unfortunately it was very testing, as well as interesting and was rather tough with some very difficult hills for good measure.
Simon Withers was our sole entrant in the senior men’s race and kept the honour of the club up with a very successful outing to finish in 512th out of a huge field of 761 finishers. We had a very good turnout of five senior ladies with Jacqueline Keavney our first finisher in a very respectful 207th, Kiska Wilson was next in 227th, Pauline Whittaker was 323rd, followed by Fiona Wilson in 336th and Nicki Buckett in 393rd giving the team 44th overall in the standings.
Emily Francis was 109th in the U15 girl’s race. Laura Kirkham was 46th in the U20 girl’s race and in the U17 girl’s race Chloe Dalton was 76th. In the U20 men’s race Reece Dalton was 34th and Harry Robson was 59th. In the U13 girl’s event, Alana Teasdale had a good run to finish in 69th, with Shannon Robinson in 92nd, Holly McCowie in 128th and Maisey Squires in 170th giving the team 18th overall. In the boy’s race Thomas O’Mahoney was 43rd, followed by Joshua Hammett in 70th and Dominic Wilford was 181st.
In the U17 boy’s race Jake Stephenson was 64th, Matthew Lambert was 89th and Lewis Moore in 106th. Kyle Rabjohn had another outstanding run was 5th, Charlie Stephenson running well in 16th, Daniel Francis a very good 40th and Callum Crisp finished in 173rd, which also gave the boys team a fantastic final team position of 8th.
Joe Reeve ran the Wynard 5k trail race and finished in 31st position (22:06). Rob Scott was 1st at Catterick park run this week (16:55), Dave Hack was 2nd (18:07), Thomas Greer in 37th (25:19), Ian Hepworth in 38th (25:21) and Karen Greer in 75th (30:23). Diane Adkins was at Sedgefield parkrun and finished in 104th (27:17), while Mike Jefferies took the win at Albert Park parkrun (18:34) and Deb Pennick in 115th (28:13).
