QUIETISH WEEK FOR THE HARRIERS 5/4/18
Quietish Week for the Harriers
With Easter falling this week, it was a quieter week of racing with most staying local for the holiday
weekend.
During the week a number of harriers visited Darlington South Park for the Children With Cancer 5k charity race. Tom O’Mahoney was 1st back for the club in another new pb (18:54, pb), he was followed by Joe Reeve another to smash his pb on this course (19:01, pb), then came Callum Crisp also in pb shape (19:31, pb), Kevin Bond in 25th (20:47), Shannon Robinson taking over a minute of her pb (21:25, pb) and Jane Bond in 142nd (28:38).
A few runners took the trip to New Marske for the Mermaid 10k, Ian Christon ran well in 33rd (38:32), Ronnie Corbett in 38th (38:53), Rosie Adams in 59th overall and the 6th lady (41:11) and Lucy Goundry the 17th lady and 2nd in her age category (48:14).
Diane Adkins was out on her travels for the North Tyneside 10k (55:17). The undulating Helmsley trail 10k took place on Easter Sunday and is always popular for the promise of an Easter egg at the finish. Mike Jefferies had a good run to finish in 10th (39:55), Pauline Whittaker in 107th and the 2nd V50 (53:14), Michelle Sprent-Broadwith in 169th (58:08) and Nicki Buckett in 186th (60:06).
After the beast from the east, the return of the beast from the east and the little beast from the east, parkruns seemed to return to normal. Carl Jones blasted round Catterick park run to take the win (16:36), followed by David Hack in 2nd (18:00), Ryan Greer in 35th (23:51), Pauline Whittaker in 60th (27:03), Thomas Greer in 74th (27:53), Karen Greer in 79th (29:03) and Nicki Buckett in 81st (29:12).
At Albert park, Steve Middleton finished in 9th (17:20) and Ken Harker was 15th (18:39). Jane Bond was at Penrith and finished in 162nd (29:39). At a rather muddy Northallerton, Anthony Jefford was 2nd (21:22) and Lucy Verrill also in the top 10 in 9th and the 1st lady (24:10).
Shannon Robinson took on Harrogate junior park run and produced a new course pb (8:1, pb).
