Richmond Relay in Style




Richmond's athletes were out in force this week from Middlesbrough, Stockton, York, Kirby Stephen and also Jarrow. The annual NYMAC relays were held at Stewarts Park in Middlesbrough, in which Richmond traditionally are always at the sharp end and are run over a one mile course with men's and women's teams of 4 runners. Difficulty in registering on the web-site only allowed Richmond to enter one team in each category, however that didn’t stop the ladies team of Jo Adams, Donna Riddler, Chloe Dalton and Rosie Adams taking home the 1st place trophy with Jo running the quickest leg overall (5:16). The men's team of Reece Dalton, Scott Wardman, Ian Christon and Carl Jones had another great run to take 3rd overall and only just a few seconds behind the 2nd team.

Dan Francis was the top runner and the 1st youth at the Stockton daisy trail 5k trail series, with Joe Reeve the 5th male and the 2nd youth and Emily Francis as the 4th female and the 2nd female youth.

At the York summer league on the track Kyle Rabjohn romped home to take 1st in the U15 1500m in another big pb (4:20:86, pb) and Tom O’Mahoney also in the same age group broke his pb also (4:59:0).

Tony and Matthew Lambert ran the Kirkby Stephen half and short yomp with Tony first in the half (01:29:22) and Matthew 1st in the short yomp (45:21). R

Richmond's track athletes took the road to Jarrow for Middlesbrough’s home match and the 2nd meet after promotion to Div 2 of the North East league. Richmond were hampered in their preparation by injuries, exams and unavailabilities, but still took a strong side in both the men's and ladies teams. First up was the hammer with team captain Ryan Inglis leading from the front with 2nd and a huge throw (38:24), Alex Canizo took 2nd in the mens B hammer (21:09), Jo Adams was 4th (17:38) in the ladies A and Fiona Wilson in 6th in the B string (11:49). In the discus Ryan was 4th (33:38), Alex triumphed in the B competition (22:34), Jo Adams was 5th in the ladies A (17:37) and Rosie Adams was also 5th in the B (13:66). Andrew West was 5th in the A javelin in a big pb (28:79, pb), Alex Canizo was 5th in the B (14:26), Pauline Whittaker was 6th in the ladies A throw (13:76) and Fiona Wilson was 5th in the B (12:03).

In the shot put Ryan was 3rd (10:99), Andrew was 2nd in the B in another pb (8:23), Jo Adams was 5th in the ladies competition (6:20) and Rosie Adams was 4th in the B (5:55). In the men's long jump Alex Greer was a good 5th (4:31) and Pauline Whittaker was 6th in the ladies (2:90). The triple jump had Ryan Canizo jump a new life time best with a massive jump (12:31, pb). Ryan Canizo was 5th in the A high jump with Alex Greer in 4th in the B competition (both 1:40). Ben Ross Russell was a fantastic 2nd in the men's 100m (11:7), with Andrew West smashing his pb in the B race (12:7, pb), Joey Hewson was 3rd (13:4) and Karen Greer 5th in the B race (20:3, pb). In the 200m, Ben Ross Russell smashed his pb (23:5, pb), Alex Greer was 5th in the B (26:5), Joey Hewson was 3rd (28:1) in the ladies and Emily Kirby was 4th (32:1) in her heat. In the men's 400m you had to run 50 seconds or quicker to make the top 4, with Adam Walker in 5th (52:2). Emily Kirby was 5th in the ladies race (73:4) and Pauline Whittaker 3rd in the B string (75:6).

In the men's 800m, Ryan Canizo was a brave 6th (2:54:1), Jo Adams was a good second in the ladies race (2:20:1) and Rosie Adams won a tight 2nd heat (2:31:0). Ken Harker ran a seasons best in the 1500m (6th, 4:46:8, sb), with Rosie Adams 3rd in the ladies race (5:18:2) and Karen Greer 4th in her heat in a new pb (7:36:3, pb). Captain Inglis took on the 5km and finished 5th (28:02:3). Jo Adams (10:40:2) and Rachel Ross Russell (11:13:3) won both the A and B 3000m races. 400m hurdles had Ryan Inglis in 6th (1:41:2), Ryan Canizo in 2nd in the B race (85:0) and then in the 110m hurdles was 5th (28:1). The mens relay teams in the 100 and 400m finished 6th and the ladies relay teams were 4th in both races.

Ronnie Corbett was 5th at Troon parkrun (19:04), Ian Christon was 20th at Canon Hill parkrun (18:21), Anthony Jefford was 3rd with Alastair Wilkin 9th at Northallerton (21:51) and Carl Jones was 1st at Darlington parkrun (16:17). Leon Reeve was 11th (18:22, pb), Carl Loughney in 35th (19:17, pb), Joe Reeve in 41st (19:29, pb), Lewis Moore in 99th (20:52), Pauline Whittaker in 142nd (24:44) and Nicki Buckett in 168th (28:01). At Northallerton junior parkrun Tom O’Mahoney was the first finisher by a long way!
