Scott Returns
This week the Harriers were out and about at Jarrow, York, Aycliffe, Middlesbrough, Penshaw, Pudsy and Portland, Oregon, USA. Marc Scott continues his rehab from an injury, which has kept him out of racing for 10 months and his first race back was the 5,000m at the Portland Track Festival. Marc showed no sign of the injury and had an encouraging return to action by taking 2nd in the race and achieving the European qualifying standard for Team GB (13:29:27, sb). Next up is the British Championships in Birmingham.
Ken Harker was in form at Jarrow for the NEMAA track and field league in 10th in the 3000m (10:12, sb, 1st V45). Pauline Whittaker also competed and was the 1st V50 in the 100m (16:0), 2nd V50 in the 400m (79:3) and 3rd V50 in the javelin (14:60).
It was also the next round of the NYSD held at Middlesbrough and Tom O’Mahoney was 1st in the U15 3000m in a big new pb (10:36, pb), Joe Reeve also showed his class 2nd behind Tom (10:45, pb). In the U13’s 1500m, Holly McCowie had a fabulous run winning the race and producing a new pb in the process (5:05:62, pb). In the senior 3000m A race Sam Kettlewell also smashed his pb in 7th (10:33, pb), Callum Crisp also ran a new pb in the same race in 12th (10:56, pb), Leon Reeve took the win in the B race with another new pb (10:50, pb). In the 100m Ben Ross Russell was 2nd (11:77). Kyle Rabjohn another to up his performance destroyed his pb in the 3000m in 2nd (9:24, pb). Kirsty Kettlewell was the 1st V40 in the shot (6:85), 1st V40 in the long jump (3:42) and the 1st V40 in the 400m (84:3).
At the York summer league Kyle Rabjohn was 1st in the U15 800m (2:08) and Tom O’Mahoney was 4th (2:31). Another local race was the Aycliffe 10k, which is well supported by the club. Jeremy Pattison on his return to racing from a long layoff was 20th in an excellent time (38:27), Garry Malton in another good time was 164th (49:05), Graeme Wilson took his first step into racing and finished with an excellent time breaking 60 minutes (59:03, pb) and was paced by wife Fiona Wilson (59:02). The precursor to the race was the fun run over 3.2km and was won by Tom O’Mahoney (12:10).
Another winner was Shannon Robinson, who was the 1st girl at the Pudsey Pacer fun run over 2.75km. Carl Loughney ran the Penshaw Trail half marathon up and around the monument to finish in an excellent 26th (1:48:48, 7th V40).
At Northallerton parkrun Ian Christon was 1st (19:10), Shona Fletcher was the 1st lady in 8th (21:16) and Alastair Wilkin was 12th (21:41)). Lucy Verrill ran Albert Park parkrun and was the 3rd lady in 49th (22:01). At Catterick parkrun Lewis Moore broke his pb again in 14th (18:32, pb), Leon Reeve was 24th (19:49), Holly McCowie was 35th and the 1st lady (20:14 and a new pb), Garry Malton in 120th (22:12), Pauline Whittaker was 135th (23:22), Ryan Greer was 145th (23:52), Rebecca Squires was 272nd (36:27) and Karen Greer also in 272nd= (36:27). Ollie Middleton was 7th at Northallerton junior parkrun (8:43).
