Richmond and Zetland Harriers



RICHMOND'S athletes travelled to Darlington, Kettlewell, Harrogate, Wetherby, Middlesbrough and Ripon this week.

Steve Middleton ran the Endure 24 hour race held at Braham Park and finished in an excellent 28th place. Rachel Ross Russell had another great run in the picturesque and scenic Kettlewell 3 peaks to finish as the 2nd lady even after taking a tumble on the 1st hill (04:04:21).

Over at Harrogate, Ian Hepworth took on the 10k on a very hot and hilly route but finished in a very good 168th (58:36).

Darlington was the setting for the next round of the NYSD track league with Tom O’Mahoney taking 2nd in the U15 3000m and big new pb (10:29:03, pb), he was followed by Joe Reeve in 3rd who also smashed his pb in the process (10:41:01, pb) and Ken Harker was 8th in the senior race over the same distance (10:15:7). In the U13 girls 1500m, Holly McCowie continues her good run of form, taking 1st (5:08:0) with Shannon Robinson running well in 3rd and a new pb (5:16:8, pb) and Shannon also 3rd in the 200m (32:00, pb). Shannon also ran in the Harrogate and Craven schools races at Cleckheaton later in the week where she came 4th in the year 7/8 1500m and took another chunk out of her pb in the process (5:11:03, pb). Alana Teasdale ran in the 3000m U15 girls race and finished 1st just outside her pb (11:04:02).

Carl Jones was 2nd and the 1st V40 at the Ripon Triathlon. Middlesbrough was the setting for the Ali Brownlee memorial 5k with Tom O’Mahoney romping to another new pb and the 1st junior (18:35, pb) and Lucy Verrill also having a great result as the 5th lady (20:58).

Marc Scott was in the final of the men's 5000m and was in the mix from the start to finish and then kicked with 150m to record his first British Championship win. He has now confirmed his selection in the British Team for the European Championship 5000m.

At Northallerton parkrun Ian Christon was 1st (19:19) and Alastair Wilkin was 6th (21:44). Garry Malton was 19th at Catterick parkrun in a new pb (21:52, pb), Pauline Whittaker was 41st (24:09), Nicki Buckett was 63rd (27:56) and Karen Greer was 73rd (30:15). Reece Dalton was the 1st finisher at Fountains Abbey parkrun (16:40) and Donna Riddler was 12th and the 1st lady (19:40).
